The Illumination

The numbers, markers and hands are applied in Super-Luminova; a specialized phosphorous paint which enables the watch to glow at night. There are varying levels of quality in illuminating paint, but the top of the line is called Super-Luminova; produced by a company in Switzerland, it has become the standard for high-quality Swiss timepieces. The heat from light-sources, such as the sun or bright bulbs, charges up the paint which stores the energy for later dark-area use, say at night. Depending on the amount of time the paint was charging up, the illumination can last for many hours. There are different color shades of Super-Luminova, naturally the brightest color is white (called C-1), however we can offer any shade you like. The top Swiss watch brands use Super-Luminova on their dials and hands, creating fantastic designs and color combinations. We exclusively use Super-Luminova to maximize night readability, after-all seeing in the dark is a neat trick.
